US to Get SNES Themed 3DS XL for $199.99

A very cool Nintendo 3DS XL turned up that was originally thought to be for Europe only. The cool thing about that portable console is that it looks like a SNES console from the old days of gaming. As it turns out, the special edition 3DS XL will be available in the US reports Engadget.

The console has the power, reset, and eject buttons printed on the front that anyone who played the Super Nintendo Entertainment System back in the day will recognize. Nintendo is selling the console for $199.99 and it can be pre-ordered now.

The special edition console will also come with a download code for Super Mario Kart with the 3DS XL. The console is listed as shipping on November 27. Other than the special graphics on the front of the console and the game download, it’s a run of the mill 3DS XL.

The listing on Amazon does say that the AC adapter is sold separately. That doesn’t make any sense though, Nintendo always packages a charger with its consoles. Edit: It seems Nintendo packaged chargers with its hardware up until the 3DS XL and then stopped.
