U.S. racing to help Russians trapped in sub

The U.S. Navy says it is sending a crew to Russia’s Pacific Coast to rescue seven Russian sailors trapped in an AS-28 mini-submarine. The sailors cannot swim to the surface nor can divers reach the vessel because it is too deep at 190 meters (623 feet) below the surface, according to Russian Navy spokesman Capt. Igor Dygalo. We hope that the U.S. Navy reaches the ship in time and is able to help the Russian Navy bring 7 sailors up alive.

The U.S. Navy is rushing a crew to Russia’s Pacific Coast in hopes of rescuing seven Russian sailors trapped in a mini-submarine. The effort is a race against time because the sailors are believed to have less than 24 hours of oxygen left. Britain and Japan also have offered to help. The sub became snagged in fishing nets and a cable Thursday during a military exercise off the Kamchatka peninsula.
