HD Tune Pro 3.50 is an extended version of HD Tune which includes many new features such as: write benchmark, secure erasing, AAM setting, folder usage view, disk monitor, command line parameters and file benchmark.
The HD Tune file benchmark shows again the hard drive maxing out at around 60MB/sec with the eSATA connection having no trouble handling the bandwidth.
The read benchmark is more of the same but for this benchmark, take special note of the access time and burst rates for the drive using eSATA.
The USB 2.0 test shows no real difference from the other benchmarks with the bandwidth cap still being roughly 35MB/sec. Are you sold on eSATA yet?
Remember above I mentioned paying special attention to the access time and burst rate? Take a look at the USB 2.0 results. The access time is roughly the same as you would expect as this isn’t bandwidth dependent. However, have a look at the burst rate. The eSATA burst rate being over 3.5 times greater than the USB 2.0 which is a huge difference.
