TAG Heuer Connected Modular 45 Smartwatch starts at $1650

Normally when you see a smartwatch the price is hovering somewhere around $250-$350. If you buy the Apple Watch Edition in ceramic it will set you back nearly $1300. Watchmaker TAG Heuer has now launched a new smartwatch called the TAG Heuer Connected Modular 45 and it runs Android Wear 2.0.

The idea and the name of the watch come from the fact that it has modules that can be swapped out during turning the watch from a smartwatch to a normal mechanical watch to the smart wearable depending on what the wearer wants. The Swiss made watch is a TAG Heuer Carrera Model and has a 45mm watch face.

The lugs, strap, buckle, and case are all interchangeable elements for customization. The watch can be purchased in satin or polished grade 5 titanium or plated with 18K 5N rose gold. A black ceramic version is also available and the watch can be had with or without diamonds. In all there are 56 different versions of a watch with a selection of 11 standard models available in stores and 45 others available on request.

Customization allows for a range of colors and materials to be selected and there are 18 different straps available to choose from including leather, rubber, titanium, and ceramic. The Swiss mechanical movement section of the watch is a three hands calibre 5 and a Grand Complication timepiece with a Tourbillon Heuer 02-T with a titanium and carbon case is offered.

Features include integrated GPS, 50m water resistance, and a NFC chip supporting Android Pay. The screen of the smartwatch module has an OLED screen. The processor is an Intel Atom Z34XX series and 4GB of internal storage is on board. The battery promises a full day of use per charge.

TAG Heuer designed 30 different watch dials to be displayed on the screen matching with the firm’s brand. The TAG Heuer Studio allows fans to make their own dial faces. The app needed for the watch is available for Android devices now and is coming soon for iOS. The basic TAG Heuer Connected Modular 45 sells for $1,650. A Deluxe box set that includes the watch in titanium with titanium lugs and a brown leather strap along with the Heuer-02T tourbillion mechanical moule and another black rubber strap sells for $17,000.
