System76 Launches World’s Fastest Ubuntu Gaming Laptop

By

System76 says that their new Bonobo Extreme 17.3″ laptop is the world’s fastest Ubuntu powered gaming laptop! With Steam coming to Ubuntu the folks over at System76 want to make sure gamers have the right hardware and the Bonobo Extreme looks to be a pretty beefy notebook. It uses Intel Core i7 quad-core processors along with either the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670MX or GeForce GTX 680M discrete graphics cards to ensure you have the horse power you need for the latest gaming titles. The notebook has a 17.3-inch display that runs at a 1920×1080 screen resolution, so it can use that graphics power. The base model is on sale for $1,499 and comes with an Intel Core i7-3630QM processor, 8GB of memory, a 500GB hard drive and the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670MX with 3GB GDDR5 memory. If you want to step up to the GeForce GTX 680M it will cost you another $340. Steam for Linux is still in beta, but it is clear that laptop makers aren’t waiting for the full release to come out before launching products!
