Switch Online Service Will Hold onto Cloud Saves if Subscription Expires

By

We’ve all been there before with payments that recur on credit or debit cards. Cards expire, or you hit your max and forget you have automatic payments coming out and payments are missed sometimes leading to lapses in services. Nintendo has given up some detail on how the Switch Online service will handle this reports Nintendo Wire.

If your subscription lapses, Switch Online Service will hold onto your cloud saves for up to six months. This is very good news because if it takes you a few weeks to even realize your subscription has lapsed, your content will still be there.

Nintendo wrote, “If a Nintendo Switch Online membership expires, users wont be able to access their Save Data Cloud backups. However, Nintendo will allow users who resubscribe within 180 days to access their previous Save Data Cloud backups.” You cant access those saves unless you pay up, but at least they won’t disappear one day after a lapse in payment.

Nintendo’s online service for the Switch is much cheaper than the competition. The Switch still isn’t as packed with third-party games as other platforms, but it has some very good exclusives.
