Setting up the SteelSeries Spectrum 7xb

SteelSeries Spectrum 7xb

Setting up the headsets for gameplay couldnt have been simpler. We first installed the included AAA Batteries in the headphones. We then plugged in the Spectrum Transmitter via the Xbox USB and plugged the RCA splitter cable into the Audio OUT from the back of the TV. Essentially, the USB port is the power supply for the SteelSeries Spectrum Transmitter.

We then plugged in the Spectrum voice regulator into the Xbox controller. We then connected that cable to the headset. Now that everything is connected, we turned the headset and Xbox system on. We paired the headset to the transmitter by holding the power button on the headphones down until the indicator flashes letting you know that you are paired. Now we are ready to test our favorite game.

To turn off the headset, all you need to do is hold down the power button for three seconds. You will hear a tone to let you know that the 7xb headset is turning off. SteelSeries built in an automatic turn off as well. If you turn off the Xbox system, then the headset will power down automatically.

SteelSeries provides very good instructions for the user in a host of different languages. The instructions arent long, but they are detailed enough that we found everything that we were looking for.

The SteelSeries ExactSND DSP allows you to choose from three EQ settings: Performance that allows the user to hear directional sounds, footsteps, and gunfire with greater precision; Immersion that highlights environmental sounds and music; Entertainment that increases bass levels and ambient sound especially when watching videos and movies.

The LiveMIX function that SteelSeries has included on the Spectrum 7xb allows the user to hear and interact in team-based video games better. When activated, SteelSeries LiveMIX will balance the output levels between Xbox LIVE chat and ambient game audio automatically. As your teammates say things to you, you will hear them, not the birds flying above your head.
