SilverStone Raven RVX01 Mid-Tower Chassis Sneak Peek

By

Today, TechPowerUp has received an exclusive sneak peek of SilveStone’s latest Raven series ATX mid-tower chassis, the Raven RVX01. The RVX01 is aimed mainly for the enthusiast gaming community, with the internal components of the system being rotated by 90 degree to provide better thermodynamics for all the hardware components inside the chassis. This top-oriented motherboard design was first shown with the Raven RV01 in 2008, which took into account the biggest issue with standard gaming chassis – systems that came with Multi-GPU configurations had improper air circulation and heat being trapped between the video cards. As a result, by rotating the motherboard by 90 degrees, cool air comes through the bottom of the chassis and hot air is exhausted on the top, allowing free flow of cool air to pass through between graphics cards and other components of the system.

By understanding why the Raven series chassis have been so popular for almost a full decade, SilverStone made sure the chassis still had the well known Raven style design with the key aspects of the previous versions. The Raven RVX01 is made of ABS and steel, which provides a robust build for even the heaviest power supplies, coolers and graphics cards. The chassis is black and red themed, and will come with two options: with or without a side-panel window.

The actual chassis comes with fair share of goodies for a well priced chassis, including: top-oriented motherboard design, possibility to install up to 162mm CPU coolers, graphics cards as long as 349mm and as tall as 150mm, and a 225mm clearance for massive 1500W power supplies. The Raven RVX01 doesn’t have any 5.25″ exposed drive bays, however, it does come with 4 internal drive bays that ca be used for 3.5″ or 2.5″ drives. There is a possibility to use a 360mm radiator on the bottom, but the RVX01 already comes with three 120mm fans on the bottom of the chassis. The front and top of the chassis both come with one 120mm fan.

The chassis is equipped with fan filters for each fan for easy cleaning and to prevent majority of the dust from entering the system. Front panel connectivity includes a USB 3.0 connector and HDA jacks. Finally the hardware is accessible through the right side of the chassis, rather than the left side, like most cases.

The Silverstone Raven RVX01 is expected to be priced roughly around $80 from major online retailers, which makes this case quite affordable for even the average gamer.
