It’s Valentines season and Sega wants to share the war, not the love, with PC gamers by offering some classic titles up for free on Steam as part of their “Make War, Not Love 3” promotion. Popular Sega games Jet Set Radio and Golden Axe are both available for free download, in addition to games from the Hell Yeah! series, until February 20th by simply visiting the Steam page for any of the titles and hitting “Install.” Giving away free games via Steam is definitely a welcome move and while Sega has certainly struggled to regain the glory they had in the early nineties, their classic games will forever be popular with the gamers who grew up on them. These free Sega games come right on the heels of an announcement that Sony will be releasing a live action/animation hybrid Sonic The Hedgehog film, though the timing is purely coincidental.

I do remember playing the PC release of Jet Set Radio and it wasn’t well-optimized in comparison to its XBOX and Dreamcast brethren, but still a fun game, nonetheless. Playing on modern hardware on a finalized version of the game will likely net me different results that my initial playthrough and I am in the process of installing the game right now. Jet Set Radio is a load of fun and I recommend downloading this free bundle just to give that title a whirl. Golden Axe offers awesome old school, side scrolling, beat ’em up action, though I was never a big fan of Genesis beat ’em ups compared to what was available on SNES.
