Sea of Thieves Cursed Sails Update Launches July 31

By

Pirate adventurers who enjoy Sea of Thieves have a new expansion landing on July 31 called Cursed Sails. A new teaser trailer for the update is available to watch now and can be seen at the bottom of the post. Cursed Sails brings skeleton crews to the game that man their own ships.

Players will be forced to fight these skeleton crews to protect their outposts. Cursed Sails will also add a new ship to the game called a Brigantine that requires a three-man crew. This will be a nice addition to the game that currently has two and four-player ships.

Players can form alliances with multiple crews in the game but it’s not clear exactly how that will work. The update will have a time-limited campaign with different rewards available for those who participate. Once that limited campaign is over, all the new elements will remain in the game reports Neowin.

Rare, the developers of the game, wrote, “Cursed Sails will change things forever on the Sea of Thieves, as the sails you see cresting the horizon are no longer guaranteed to be other players making their own way through the world. The decks beneath those masts may now be manned by skeletal marauders returned to the seas from their restless graves. All that sustains these grinning terrors is a thirst for battle that leads them to terrorize Outposts and call out defenders to face them on the tides”
