By

Images and specifications for the upcoming Sapphire Radeon R9 Fury video card have leaked out! It appears that Sapphire will have two versions of the R9 Fury with the key difference being just 40MHz on the core clock between the two cards. The Sapphire R9 Fury (11247-00-40G) comes clocked at 1000 MHz clock and the Sapphire R9 Fury (11247-01-40G) comes clocked at 1040 MHz clock. Both cards have 4GB of HMB1 memory clocked at 500MHz (1000MHz effective) and appear to have the same PCB layoutm Sapphire Tri-X GPU Cooler and a backplate.

According to the leaked specifications the AMD Radeon R9 Fury will have 56 compute units enabled for a total of 3584 stream processors. Both cards use ‘AMD original PCB design’ and have enhanced 6 phase power design for GPU VDDC.

The Sapphire R9 Fury Tri-X GPU cooler is massive compared to the tiny PCB being used on the card, so it will be really interested to see how Fiji performs with air cooling. The Sapphire Tri-X GPU cooler should be more than capable of keeping the Fiji GPU nice and cool. Pricing was not leaked out, but AMD previously said that the Radeon R9 Fury would have a suggested retail price of $549 when they would be released in July. We would expect Sapphire to price the 1000MHz model around that price point and then charge a slight premium for the 1040MHz model for those that want a guaranteed factory overclock and a binned card without having to mess with anything.
