Samsung Galaxy Note7 Recalled – Battery Issues!

By

Samsung has issued an official statement saying it has stopped sales of the Galaxy Note7 smartphone after finding a battery cell issue! The announcement comes just two weeks after Samsung launched its latest flagship smartphone. Some buyers reported their phones caught fire or exploded while charging, and Samsung said it had confirmed 35 such cases, caused by faulty batteries. Samsung has sold more than 1 million Note 7 smartphones since the product’s launch. The problem can be simply resolved by changing the battery, but first they need to make over 1 million batteries! The battery issue might impact less than 0.1 percent of Note 7 devices sold right now, but it hasn’t even been out a month and who knows if the exploding battery issue could get worse over time.

Details of how the recall program will work in each market are to come, but all units sold so far are to be exchanged under the voluntary recall program. For Note7 owners we suggest that you only use the original charger and Type C USB cable provided with your Galaxy Note7. We don’t want a battery exploding or catching fire and hurting any of our readers!

Some of the images and videos posted online show very charred phones, so it appears that Samsung did the right thing with the recall. The bad news for Samsung is that this will likely be an expensive recall and won’t look good for them just ahead of Apple unveiling their next iPhone.
