Samsung SSD 850 PRO 4TB Coming At CES 2017

By

The Samsung SSD 850 PRO was launched back in the summer of 2014 and was the first consumer SSD with 3D NAND Flash memory. Samsung has since shipped millions of SSD 850 drives and it has become likely the most sold SSD series ever. A recent announcement shows that Samsung has won 35 CES 2017 Innovation Awards and one of those was for the Samsung 850 PRO SSD 4TB drive. It looks like Samsung has no plans on doing away with this popular SSD series as they are expanding it to include a 4TB capacity drive. Can you blame them? The Samsung 850 PRO series has over 3,000 customer reviews on Amazon and the average rating is 4.8 stars our of 5 stars. That is an impressive number as when someone has issues with a storage drive they usually leave the lowest rating possible in a rage review.

Samsung 850 PRO SSD 4TB As the worlds first 2-bit MLC 4TB consumer SSD, the 850 PRO is ideal for dramatically boosting PC performance. With an industry leading 4TB capacity, users have more space than ever before to store files locally. In particular, high data consumption users such as content creators, gaming and PC enthusiasts can upgrade their laptops and workstations from a hard disk drive to the 850 PRO SSD 4TB to surpass density limitations, reduce power consumption, better support heavy write-intensive applications, and improve PC and program load times.

The Samsung SSD 850 PRO 2TB drive is priced at $819.99 ($0.41 per GB), so it will be interesting to see where the the 4TB drive is priced at. If the price per GB remains close to the same that would put the Samsung 850 PRO SSD 4TB at around $1,640, so our best guess would be $1,599. The Samsung 850 EVO 4TB is already out and is available for $1,374.99 and you know it will be priced about that series. The Samsung 850 EVO series has an impressive 12,864 reviews on Amazon with a 4.8 out of 5 start review rating as well. Samsung is number one in consumer SSD sales and it also appears they have the highest SSD rating with thousands of reviews. Pretty amazing what Samsung has managed to pull off!
