Razer Launches BlackWidow X Mechanical Keyboards

Razer has announced the new lineup BlackWidow X mechanical gaming keyboards, a budget friendlier counterpart to the BlackWidow keyboards. Priced $10 lower, the BlackWidow X keyboards lack the protective top cover of the BlackWidow keyboards leaving the metal mounting plate exposed. Additionally, BlackWidow X keyboards use a different keycap lettering font that is smaller and more traditional looking. The new BlackWidow X keyboards are X Chroma, X Tournament Edition Chroma, X Ultimate, and X Tournament Edition.

Razer has also announced that some of its BlackWidow keyboards will soon be available with Cherry MX Blue switches. These keyboards are the BlackWidow Ultimate 2016, BlackWidow X Ultimate, and BlackWidow X Tournament Edition. These versions with Cherry MX switches will be priced $10 lower than their Razer switch counterparts. This marks the first time Razer will use Cherry MX switches since the 2014 BlackWidow lineup.

The BlackWidow X Chroma despite sharing the same RGB lighting as the BlackWidow Chroma, lacks the five dedicated macro keys and USB / audio passthrough. It is available now for $159.99.

The BlackWidow Tournament Edition X Chroma is a tenkeyless version of the Chroma. It will be available in April for $129.99.

The BlackWidow X Ultimate like its BlackWidow Ultimate 2016 counterpart has green LED backlights and lacks a set of dedicated macro keys. It is available now for $99.99. Both the BlackWidow X Ultimate and the BlackWidow Ultimate 2016 have versions with Cherry MX Blue switches respectively for $89.99 and $99.99.

The BlackWidow X Tournament Edition is a tenkeyless mechanical keyboard with no backlights. It is available now with Razer switches for $69.99 and Cherry MX Blue switches for $59.99.
