Razer Core X External Graphics Enclosure Supports Macs

Razer may be best known for gaming mice and other peripherals, but that’s not all the company is about these days. It has announced a new external graphics enclosure that will add some muscle to your gaming machine, even if that gaming rig is a Mac. The new external enclosure is called the Core X and it (as well as the existing enclosures) now support Macs with Thunderbolt 3.

The enclosure of the Core X is wider than the previous generations to allow fitting of three slot PCIe graphics cards inside and improved cooling capability. Macs arent the only machines that can benefit from the added graphics muscle the Core X brings; the device also supports Windows 10 Redstone 1 or later machines.

That includes the Razer Blade Stealth, Razer Blade, and Razer Blade Pro. Razer says that with the external enclosure packed with a high-end video card its notebooks become desktop-class gaming machines. The enclosure supports the latest PCIe cards from NVIDIA and AMD.

Supported cards include the NVIDIA GeForce, NVIDIA Quadro, and AMD XConnect enabled Radeon and Radeon Pro cards. With the Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) connection speeds up to 40Gbps are supported and the enclosure has a 650W ATX power supply inside. The Razer Core X is available now for $299.
