Razer Announces Partnership with Intel for RealSense Technology

Intel RealSense

Earlier this week at the Intel Developers Forum in San Francisco, California, Razer announced that it is actively working with Intel to deliver a cutting-edge desktop and VR-enabled camera system based on Intel’s new RealSense technology for a variety of applications. Razer expects that its new products will allow computer users to get the most out of virtual reality applications as well as enhanced gaming broadcasts. Intel RealSense cameras are able to do 3D scanning, motion and gesture recognition, and allows developers and game makers to bring real-world objects into virtual spaces easily.

Razer is excited to be working with Intel, using Intel RealSense technology to help pioneer work for game broadcasting, as well as with VR, with support from the growing OSVR movement, said Min-Liang Tan, co-founder and CEO of Razer. Gamers will, we expect, be able to enhance their broadcasting and VR experience in unprecedented ways.

Even though very few VR products exist, Razer will be showcasing many Open Source Virtual Reality (OSVR) demos using Intel’s RealSense technology during the duration of the 2015 Intel Developers Forum.
