During E3 2016 Bethesda had plenty of games in promotion. Amongst all was a section dedicated to Quake Champions (developed by id Software and Sabre Interactive). Bethesda Softworks (the publisher of Quake Champions) provided onlookers with a glimpse of what the game had to offer (through a trailer displayed on several screens) without fully disclosing the features of the game.

A new trailer for Quake Champions was released by Bethesda Softworks during Quakecon 2016. The video features a spectator’s view of some arenas and some action packed gameplay that surely provides the audience enough excitement to grab their attention. In the video viewers can see use of jump pads and rocket jumps utilized by the champions during the fast-paced battles. The game will feature an unlocked framerate, 120hz of gameplay, and described as having ‘classic quake speed.’ Although there is no set month of release we can expect Quake Champions to go into open beta sometime during 2017.

Due to the competitive FPS PVP style of Quake Champions there are elements which will allow players to create teams and compete in eSports. Tim Willits (director of id Software) responded to questions of whether or not the game will be a MOBA (multiplayer online battle arena) such as League of Legends, Heroes of the Storm, and DOTA and expressed that Quake Champions will be a “First-Person Competitive Arena-Style Shooter in classic Quake style.” Like other competitive FPS games Willits described Quake Champions as a game that can be for both new and professional players.
