Project Scorpio Dev Kit Looks Like This

By

Details and an image of the Project Scorpio dev kit have surfaced giving gamers a look at what developers will be using to make games on for the new console. Since this is a dev kit, the final retail product could look different. The dev kit is a blocky console with a white and black design with buttons across the front of the chassis.

Gamespot also talks about some details of the coming Project Scorpio and how it will slot into the Xbox line. Phil Spencer stated that Xbox One games will run on Scorpio as will any peripherals you have for your Xbox One and apps. Anything from the Xbox One family will work on Scorpio.

Spencer notes that all the ports on Scorpio are in exactly the same spot as the Xbox One, if you know how to plug in and connect an Xbox One, you will be able to use Scorpio right out of the box. Project Scorpio won’t be just for those with 4K TVs wanting to game at that high resolution, Spencer notes that there will be benefits for the 1080p gamer as well.

Microsoft isn’t going to force its devs to support Project Scorpio, the software giant will allow the devs to simply build the games however they want. He notes that for most AAA developers, they will already have the assets that Scorpio needs for high resolution games from the PC version of those titles. Microsoft also plans to support VR on Scorpio.

The new console is expected to launch for the holiday season of 2017 and the full details on the consumer version of the console will surface then. For now it’s unclear if we will get a look at the retail console before E3 this summer.
