Playerunknown Battlegrounds Hits Peak Players Record

By

A few days back we talked a bit about Playerunknown Battlegrounds (PUBG) and the fact that it had reached a milestone with 5 million copies sold. This week another benchmark has been hit for the video game with it racking up the record for the most peak concurrent players for any non-Valve video game. Remember that PUBG is only sold via Steam for PC gamers.

On July 30, the game set a record for peak concurrent players with a total of 481,291 players playing at the same time. This is the most for any game not made by Valve and beat out the previous record holder, Fallout 4. Valve’s own Dota 2 is far and away ahead of PUBG with a concurrent player record of 1.2 million gamers and it sits in the number one spot.

PUBG’s numbers were enough to slip it into the third highest peak player count for any game on Steam reports Gamasutra. One impressive tidbit about sales and concurrent players right now is that PUBG is still in its early access period. The full launch is expected to come before the end of the year.

That full launch will bring features like more maps and first-person servers. All of that should add up to even more players as the game continues to grow. If you are wondering what the game in the second place spot for concurrent players was, it is Counter-Strike Global Offensive with 850,485 concurrent players in April of 2016.
