The front of the case is unobtrusive to the usability of the phone and the raised edge around the sides keeps the screen protected from drops and small items that might otherwise scratch the screen area. Although the two piece case design makes it easy for quick install/removal, you can’t help but notice the seam between the two pieces when viewing, and using the phone; but this is just a minor distraction.

On the top of the case there’s easy access to the earphone jack. But rather than leave a hole in the casing for the power button, Otterbox has incorporated a TPE rubber covered button. This button requires much more pressure to active the button than would normally be required on the actual button itself. This can be viewed as either a positive or negative depending on your viewpoint. While it makes it nearly impossible to “accidentally” depress the button, when pressing it on purpose, you can’t help but notice the additional amount of pressure required to active it.

When examining the side of the casing, once again, it’s difficult not to notice the seam between the two pieces of the phone, and the hole cut out for the audio/mute switch is unusually large and “square” looking. This is most likely to allow enough room for your finger to get in there to slide the button, but it would have been nice if they had rounded the corners of the hole a bit so it doesn’t look like it was just crudely cut out of the case.

On the bottom of the case, there’s easy access to plug in the charging cable.

Overall, the Reflex series of cases from Otterbox, does a good job of covering all areas sought after when someone is trying to protect a Smartphone case. It’s sleek and stylish, not too bulky, and offers great protection for your iPhone 4. And with an Otterbox “Rugged” rating of 3 out of 4, it’s durable, and can take a beating. This is a great case for the iPhone, and highly recommended if you’re looking for something durable and protective, yet sleek and stylish.
