NVIDIA GeForce GTX 950 LP Rumors Gain Momentum

By

Rumors are floating around VideoCardz that claim NVIDIA is working on releasing a new variant of the GeForce GTX 950 graphics card. Months ago we heard some whispers about a GeForce GTX 950 Ti might be coming to join the GeForce GTX 950 that debuted in August 2015, but they never really gained any steam. The latest rumor is that NVIDIA is working on a lower power version of the GeForce GTX 950 called the GTX 950 SE or GTX 950 LP according to a recent post on VideoCardz.

The table shown on the news story shows that GeForce GTX 950 SE/LP is coming next month and would likely be using the GM206 Maxwell GPU and have 640 CUDA cores activated. A standard GeForce GTX 950 has 768 CUDA cores, so this would be a decrease of nearly 128 or ~17% of the CUDA cores. This cards hardware specifications would be very close to that of the GeForce GTX 750 Ti that came out nearly two years ago.

GeForce GTX 950 Series

Last month we noticed that the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti was no longer listed on the GeForce Product Lineup website, but after we inquired about it being missing it quickly reappeared and was said to be a mistake. These rumors could be true as a GeForce GTX 950 LP could be just the card to replace the GeForce GTX 750 Ti and let NVIDIA market just the GeForce GTX 900 series. NVIDIA just recently opened up a new GeForce GTX 900 series microsite, so this all actually makes sense.
