Nintendo has a Pokemon Announcement Today

E3 kicks off on June 13 and we will get a glut of gaming news during the show that runs through June 15. Some companies are announcing gaming news early in an effort to beat the news coming out of the show and one of those companies is Nintendo. Nintendo has announced that it is making a Pokemon related announcement today June 6.

The announcement is something to do with Pokemon Direct and the announcement will happen at 10 AM ET. Nintendo is playing details close to the vest for the announcement. All we know is that it will be Pokemon related and the presentation will span eight minutes. There is some speculation running rampant about what the event could focus on and many think that it will be the announcement of Pokemon Stars.

This game has been teased for a while and will fall into the Pokemon Sun and Moon realm as the third game in the series. In fact, Nintendo has been tossing out Stars themed teases for a while. The question that is really hanging in the air is if the Pokemon game will be for the 3DS or if it will come to the Switch as well.

The Switch is certainly selling in droves and needs no new massive title to lure buyers to pick up the console. In fact, the console is selling so well you can’t easily find one with widespread shortages. Nintendo has been announcing popular franchises for the Switch of late with Monster Hunter and Fire Emblem having been announced. Forbes figures that a Pokemon game announced for the Switch would be a signal that the 3DS is about to head into the sunset. The Switch is a portable afterall and perhaps that was the idea all along.
