Dell promises pre-installed Linux

Responding to customer feedback, the company is going to start pre-installing Linux on select desktop and notebook systems. It is about time that Dell finally listens to what customers have been asking for and using on their own for years!

"We will expand our Linux support beyond our existing servers and Precision workstation line," the company said on its IdeaStorm blog. "Our first step in this effort is offering Linux pre-installed on select desktop and notebook systems." The company said it will provide an update in the coming weeks that includes detailed information on which systems it will offer, testing and certification efforts, and the Linux distribution or distributions that will be available.
