Sapphire Shows Off AMD Radeon HD 7950 Mac Edition Video Card
Sapphire Technology is previewing an AMD Radeon HD 7950 Mac Edition graphics card at CeBIT this week. The high-end card arrives following Apple's introduction of Radeon HD 7000-series drivers in OS X 10.8.3 betas last November, although the update has yet to be released to the public. The high-end gaming graphics card is rumored to have boost enabled and clock speeds of 800MHz on the core and 5000MHz on the 3GB of GDDR5 memory. Sapphire has told reporters at CeBIT that the Radeon HD 7950 Mac Edition video card should cost around $450. Rumor also has it that Sapphire has two BIOS versions on the card, one for PC and the other for Mac. This is pretty slick as you can switch between the two profiles and use the card in various systems down the road. We also like the white colored fan shroud being used over the GPU's vapor chamber cooler. The card looks pretty sweet and should work great in the Mac Pro!
