Nest Thermostat E Debuts at $169

By

Nest has rolled out a new and lower priced smart thermostat called the Nest Thermostat E. That is a significant price difference compared to the Nest Learning Thermostat that sells for $249. The Nest Thermostat E has many of the same features as its more expensive sibling, but it only comes in white with a frosted display. When you walk up to the thermostat that display comes on and shows you the current temperature.

That frosted screen has an integrated ambient light sensor to control brightness depending on room conditions. The E has pre-set scheduling to allow users to save energy out of the box. It can be controlled via the Nest app and it can also learn your schedule just as the more costly Learning Thermostat can.

The E is also able to sense when you are home and turn the AC or heat off to save money. It can also be controlled remotely from a phone, laptop, or smartwath. Google Home and Amazon Alexa are also supported for voice control of your thermostat.

The E also supports integration with connected product like ovens and lights. You will also receive notifications for the E if your heating or cooling system needs attention. The display on the E thermostat is a 24-bit color unit with 320 x 320 resolution and is 1.76-inches in diameter. The Nest E Thermostat is available to purchase now.
