Motorola buys a BenQ R&D center

Motorola Inc. will acquire an advanced research and development center from BenQ in upcoming months. The center has 250 employees that will now work for Motorola in their Libertyville-based Mobile Devices group. An interesting purchase to say the least.

Motorola Inc. will acquire an advanced research and development center in Aalborg in “Denmark’s Silicon Valley” for an undisclosed amount from Taiwan-based BenQ, a Motorola competitor. The Aalborg center and its 250 employees, primarily engineers, will be incorporated into Motorola’s Libertyville-based Mobile Devices group. The deal is expected to close next month.
