Moto E Launches At $129

Motorola dives deeper into budget phones with the reveal of the Moto E at $129. Offering a similar experience to the Moto G but with slightly trimmed specs, Motorola cut $50 off the top with the following hardware:

  • CPU: 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon – dual-core Cortex A7
  • RAM: 1GB
  • Screen: 960×540 4.3″ Gorilla Glass
  • Storage: 4GB internal with Micro SD slot
  • Mobile Data: 3G-only data through UMTS, AWS, QGSM, GSM, and CDMA
  • Battery: 1980mAh

Moto E

The E features a near-stock Android KitKat experience with a few of Motorola’s OEM apps preinstalled. The primary differences between the new Moto and the G are the reduction of core count from 4 to 2, a slightly smaller footprint overall, a step down from 720p to 540p, and obviously the 4GB of storage. Realistically though, the Moto E is an excellent option for new smartphone adopters, budget shoppers, or those who are interested in utility over vanity and media storage.

Motorola is now taking preorders on the new budget handset, which are expected to be delivered between June 3rd and 6th. This lines the launch of the E up with the recently announced Moto G 4G LTE edition (GSM only).
