MAINGEAR Vybe Z170 and PNY GTX 980Ti Gaming

All game testing was done with all options on maximum, and run at 3840×2160 (4K) resolution. Each test was done three times, with the results averaged. If we were reviewing the specific components inside the Vybe, we might have done many more game benchmarks, however we are taking a look at what the MAINGEAR Vybe has to offer, not rating the specific components.

Most gamers are GPU bound and not CPU bound as we play game titles at 1440p or Ultra HD 4k screen trsolutions, so overclocking the CPU doesn’t do any good. We tested Grand Theft Auto V, Witcher 3, DIRT Rally, Tomb Raider and Thief to see how the MAINGEAR Vybe with the GeForce GTX 980Ti video card does.

Gaming Bottom Line: The MAINGEAR Vybe with the Intel Skylake i7-6700K and PNY GTX 980Ti will allow you to game at nearly any resolution with decent frame rates. Our 4K Ultra HD tests show that we were able to best 30 FPS on GTA V, Tomb Raider and Thief and even Witcher 3 if rounding up to the nearest whole number counts in your book. Witcher 3 received the lowest score, but we were able to get it above 30 FPS by turning off NVIDIA’s Hair Works.
