Over the years, we have seen great ideas just disappear due to various reasons. Last year at CES Lynktec was showing a new mobile charger designed to charge devices without needing to carry around extra cords. That wasn’t anything really new, we already have a wide range of portable charging devices that include a short cable. What Lynktec did though was take it from being a short cable with the charger and made it significantly longer at 48″! This was accomplished by using a retractable cable, which spools into the main battery pack. Why would you want to have a 48″ charging cord? With short cords you have to carry the charger and the device at the same time, with 48″ of cord you can leave the battery in a bag, pocket, or sitting on a surface. It provides you freedom to charge how you want, and where you want.

Currently, the Lyntec ReelJuice power bank is available in a 3x (5300mAh) and a 5x (8000mAh) models. Both models include the same feature set, which includes a nylon braided 48″ retractable charging cord, micro USB and Lightning connectors, a removable USB charging module (you need to supply your own AC to USB plug), and pass-through charging, which allows you to charge both the battery pack and a device at the same time. When charging a device it will detect the optimal amount of power needed and will charge with up to 2.1A of power. While Lynktec does not provide an AC adapter with the ReelJuice, they are working on a new module that provides the AC charging prongs.

Lynktec includes both a USB Micro connection on the cable, and a little Lightning adapter. This makes it convenient for users not needing to know which model of ReelJuice they need as the two biggest connectors are included in one package. In addition, Lynktec as placed a little storage slot for the adapter on the side of the pack; so you’ll always have the adapter with you.

The biggest version, the 5x, without the USB charging module, you are looking at a portable battery pack that measures about 5.5″ x 3.25″ x 0.75″. On the bottom is the USB charging module that includes a short USB cable to recharge the battery pack. This attaches to the battery with a USB micro connection, it snaps into place and is well secured so it won’t fall off in normal usage.

The Lynktec ReelJuice chargers are currently available for purchase, for $99.99 (3x) and $119.99 (5x), and carry a one year warranty. However, due to high demand, they are on back-order which should be resolved very soon.
