The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is Running on PC

Nintendo has branched out a bit over the last year or so and the big move is offering games on mobile platforms. Having mobile games like Mario Run certainly doesn’t mean that Nintendo is interested in bringing its top titles to other platforms like the PC. That doesn’t mean that hacker groups aren’t working to get games like “Breath of the Wild” on other platforms.

Team CEMU is a group of devs that are working on a Wii U emulator for the PC. The latest game they have turned their attention towards is “Breath of the Wild”. The port to the PC emulator is a work in progress, but the game is said to be running on the PC right now. It certainly has some work to be done yet with the game said to be stuttery.

The current version of CEMU allows players to load “Breath of the Wild”, explore the world, fight, enter shrines, fast travel, and more. The big issue is that the frame rate isn’t ideal dropping into the teens on some portions of the game. I would assume Nintendo isn’t going to appreciate this.

Venture Beat reports that while Emulation of Wii U games is possible without pirating the software, most CEMU users are downloading the game illegally. The emulator violates copyright for the game and the Wii U Bios. I will assume that means that Nintendo will take this as a legal war and unleash the legal hounds on Team CEMU.
