Kingston USB 2.0 Hi-Speed 19-in-1 Reader

To test out the Kingston 19-in-1 media reader we used a Kingston 8GB Ultimate 266x Compact Flash card. This is the fastest Compact Flash card that Kingston offers, so it is perfect for testing out the media reader to see how it performs. Also included will be the previous Kingston media readers to see if an upgrade is in order for those that might happen to own one. All testing was done using SiSoftware Sandra XII on our Dell M1710 notebook.

Kingston USB 2.0 Hi-Speed 19-in-1 Reader

The new Kingston 19-in-1 Reader with our 8GB 266x Compact Flash card is significantly faster than the previous Kingston readers. The Kingston 19-in-1 reader was found to be 71% faster than the Kingston 15-in-1 reader when it came to read speeds and 57% faster at write speeds. This just goes to show that if you have purchased newer hi-speed memory cards in recent years and have not upgraded your card reader that an upgrade might be due. If you have the original Kingston 6-in-1 reader and upgrade to the 19-in-1 reader you might see a 314% increase in read performance like we saw in our testing! Final Thoughts and Conclusions:

The only ‘downgrade’ we noticed with the 19-in-1 reader is that Kingston stopped offering a five year warranty like previous models. The two year warranty is still good though as we have yet to kill any of our Kingston media readers as even our 6-in-1 reader from 2002 is still in perfect working order.

The Kingston USB 2.0 Hi-Speed 19-in-1 reader is an improvement over previous Kingston readers as you have seen here today. Basic functionality has been improved and performance was impressive to say the least. With digital SLR cameras all the rage this Christmas it is likely that you still need to pick up a reader. With a price tag of $12.95 plus shipping and no negative comments on the design or performance this media reader gets the Editor’s Choice award without a doubt. To sum this reader up, Kingston has taken feedback from the community and hit it out of the ball park with the 19-in-1 reader.
