Intel’s Fully Configured “Braswell” NUC (NUC5PGYH) is Now Shipping

With Mini-PCs on the rise, and the greater need for small, low powered systems, Intel finally released their first fully configured Next Unit of Computing (NUC) mini-PC, the NUC5PGYH. Intel’s Braswell NUC system comes pre-installed with Windows 10 on a board that features the low power (6W TDP) Intel Pentium Processor N3700, with a 1.6 GHz processor base frequency, and up to 2.4 GHz burst frequency. The board also comes with 2GB of DDR3L-1600 RAM (upgradable to 8GB) and 32GB of eMMC storage. The system also comes with two USB 3.0 ports in the front and two USB 3.0 ports in the back, one SATA3 port for 2.5″ HDD or SSD, a Dual Band Wireless-AC and Bluetooth 4.0 adapter, TOSLINK optical audio, Gigabit LAN, HDMI and VGA port, and even an SD card slot.

Intel’s NUCs have been around since Q2 2012, with consumers and many companies jumping on it due to its low power consumption, low heat output and super-fast storage in a small form factor. This makes it a great option for users surfing the web, doing basic word processing tasks and running not so heavy processor based applications. Although, this is the first time Intel has released a “fully configured” system.

The Intel NUC5PGYH is now available for purchase for $255 shipped from 3rd party retailers on Amazon. The possibilities for this system are endless. While it may not be designed for gamers, or even users that require high processing power, it is a perfect system for an an everyday user looking for entertainment, basic word/data processing, and even for HTPC use in the living room. It even has potential for tasks that current embedded systems are used for in a basic home/small business based network infrastructures.
