Intel informed its channel partners in Taiwan that it plans to stop manufacturing four desktop-use Pentium D processors (model numbers 830, 840, 930 and 940) by the end of 2006, according to channel sources.

Taking out the four Pentium D CPUs from the market, Intel will facilitate the migration to Core 2 Duo processors, the sources said. In addition to this, Intel also aims to push sales of its forthcoming Pentium D 925 CPU (3.0GHz core frequency, 2x2MB L2 cache, 800 MHz FSB), which is expected to be launched on October 1, 2006, the sources indicated.
