Intel to Slash Thousands of Jobs: Reports

Intel, the big California-based maker of computer chips, is close to revealing plans to cut as much as one-fifth of its workforce, according to published reports.

The job cuts could eliminate 10,000 to 20,000 jobs, and might be confirmed next week, reports say. Shares of Intel gained 28 cents to $19.85 in premarket trading Friday on INET.
