Intel to debut Broadwater 965 chipsets in 2Q 2006

By

Intel plans to introduce its 965-series chipset, codenamed Broadwater, in the second quarter of 2006, according to unspecified sources that reviewed the chip giant?s latest roadmap. We hope that Intel can get these chipsets out this time around with no production issues!

In terms of applications, Intel?s 965 chipset series, which support DDR2 memory, will be divided into two segments ? the P965 and G965 lines for the consumer-market oriented Bridge Creek platform and the Q965 and Q963 series for the enterprise-use Averill platform, the sources hinted. Apart from the P965 series, the G965, Q965, and Q963 series all integrate Intel?s Graphic Media Accelerator (GMA) graphics core, the sources noted. Out of the entire Broadwater product line, only the Q963, which is aimed at the entry-level enterprise segment, does not support DDR2 800 memory, the sources added.
