3DMark 06 is the worldwide standard in advanced 3D game performance benchmarking and the latest version in the popular 3DMark series! 3DMark06 tests include all new HDR/SM3.0 graphics tests, advanced SM2.0 graphics tests, AI and physics driven single and multiple cores or processor CPU tests and a collection of comprehensive feature tests to reliably measure next generation gaming performance today.
Default 3DMark06 settings were used for testing, so a resolution of 1280×1024 was used.
Benchmark Results: 3DMark06 showed that the Intel X9000 was the winner in the CPU test, which is a fair look at the performance differences between the processors. The Dell XPS M1730 was also a winner in the overall score as you can see below.
Just for fun, I also ran 3DMark06 with the system overclocked at 3.4GHz and was able to break the 10,000 mark on 3DMark06! Very impressive with a notebook and if you wanted even higher performance levels you could overclock the graphics cards! Note the CPU score went from 2576 to 3131 when overclocked, which is a 21.5% performance increase thanks to the overclock.
