Hulu Live TV PC and Mac Streaming Debuts

Cord cutters now have a new way to watch live and on demand TV shows via their PCs. Hulu has rolled out its Live TV offering on living room streaming devices and mobile already and now the service is available on desktop and laptop computers. Hulu does offer fans of live TV a word of caution though, “…rather than wait until weve finalized our new Web experience, were opening up a basic version to Hulus live TV plan subscribers so they can stream live TV via their browsers.”

Hulu notes that the PC and Mac streaming service is a “very early” version of the new Hulu experience on the web and that over the next few months the service will evolve significantly. Presumably the early and basic web service is going to be missing some of the things you might expect of watching video on a computer. Hulu says that in the coming months features like point, click, and keyboard interactions will be added. Pages that fit all screen sizes will be coming also.

This first iteration of the service will allow subscribers to browse and watch live TV from over 50 channels and to see what’s on individual networks. Users can also search for things to watch and watch all content available on the network. Multiple streams are supported on computers with viewers able to watch football and other sports content. Hulu wrote, “Catch every live game from ESPN, ESPN 2, ESPN U, SEC Network, Fox Sports 1, Fox Sports 2, CBS Sports Network, Big Ten Network or your local ABC, CBS, Fox and NBC channels in select markets.”

Hulu notes that playback is available without a plugin or extension on Chrome, Safari, Microsoft Edge, and IE 11 browsers on select operating systems. Exactly which operating systems other than Windows and Mac are supported isn’t made clear.
