Guy Turns Broken Nintendo DS console into Game Boy

One of the things that lots of gamers out there liked about the old Nintendo DS handheld was that it could play Game Boy games. One of the things that fans didnt care for about the old DS was that the hinge on the consoles was weak and often broke making it unable to play DS games. A guy called Joe Bleeps has found that even with a broken hinge the DS could be used for Game Boy games.

He turns the broken DS consoles into a modded GBA called the Neon Advance. Joe puts a mono speaker into the stylus slot under the bottom half of the DS. The speakers were originally in the top half of the DS, so the mono speaker is needed for sound.

Where the broken hinge previously lived Joe puts a glowing neon light that looks cool but isnt so bright that it distracts from the gaming experience reports Kotaku. The result is a cool console that is still useful for playing old-school Nintendo Game Boy Advance titles.

It’s always cool to see someone turning something that would otherwise get tossed into the trash into a console that continues to function. I wonder where he gets all the broken DS consoles for his mods.
