Introduction and Specs
The X48 is the flagship motherboard of Intel at present. It certainly is a great chipset with which to pair your shiny new quad core Intel CPU. It has proven to be a decent overclocker, and its performance is on par with every new chipset out there. As we saw in our Asus P5E3 Premium review, it does not really provide a great performance over the previous generation X38 boards though, and also to upgrade at a time when the economy is sluggish is hard for some to do, especially considering the cost of the boards. But once again, make no mistake, it is a great chipset.
Gigabyte has jumped on board with a few different versions of the X48 chipset, and we have the privilege to take a look at one of them. Specifically, today we have the Gigabyte GA-X48-DS5. First off, let’s take a look at the specs on the board.
