Tom Clancy’s The Division

TheDivision

Tom Clancy’s The Division is an online-only open world third-person shooter video game developed by Ubisoft Massive and published by Ubisoft, with assistance from Red Storm Entertainment, for Microsoft Windows,PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It was announced during Ubisoft’s E3 2013 press conference, and was released worldwide on March 8th, 2016. The Division is set in a dystopian New York City in the aftermath of a smallpoxpandemic; the player, who is an agent of the titular Strategic Homeland Division, commonly referred to as simply “The Division”, is tasked with helping to rebuild the Division’s operations in Manhattan, investigating the nature of the outbreak and combating criminal activity in its wake. The Division is structured with elements of role-playing games, as well as collaborative and player versus player online multiplayer.

The Division settings

The Division uses Ubisoft’s new proprietary engine known as Snowdrop, which is made for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Snowdrop was created in-house, at Massive, in response to a specific requirement: to do things better, not bigger. The engine focuses on dynamic global illumination, stunning procedural destruction and a great amount of detail and visual effects. The developers wanted a powerful engine that works intelligently and not by brute force only.

The Division settings

We ran The Division with the image quality settings set at Ultra and VSYNC was disabled. We tried to FRAPS to benchmark with these settings, but found it was pretty much impossible due to the night and day cycle always changing when you enter the game and the spot where you load in the open world is slightly different. Unable to get consistent results we resorted to used the games built-in benchmark.

1080P Benchmark Results: The Division showed the Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1070 G1 Gaming was about 2 FPS faster than the GTX 1070 FE at 1080P!

the-division-1440

1440P Benchmark Results:  As we scale up to 1440P resolution, the GeForce GTX 1070 G1 Gaming still has about a 2 FPS lead on the GeForce GTX 1070 FE.

the-division-4k

4K Ultra HD Benchmark Results: When moving up to 4K UHD resolution, the GeForce GTX 1070 G1 Gaming was still a couple FPS ahead of the GTX 1070 FE, so some notable performance gains from a card that costs less!

Hi guys, I have the g1 gaming 1070 and I was considering getting an arctic accelero extreme IV for it. Would it be a significant upgrade to the cooling or are the 3x windforce fans enough?
    =

  • Erez Avital

just ordered an EVGA GTX 1070 SC from amazon for $409. the FTW is selling for $50 more, isn’t worth it imho, but I don’t need the RGB or extra 5 FPS..

    • Noname

Let me guss American? The EVGA fanboyism is strong with you guys…

      • Erez Avital

Not American actually. and I do like EVGA, but wouldn’t say a I’m a fanboy.
it was the cheapest 1070 I could find at the time. if anything I’m an Asus fanboy, I love their Mobos, they never fail me. what’s wrong with that 😛

Meant intel i5 6600 cpu, my bad

  • bob dodd

gpu only runs at 50%. it is the windforce oc edition and do not know why. use a intel 51 6600 cpu. sometimes it gets higher but drops right back down, help?

Page 1 on the first table of specs, the boost clock and the base clock are the wrong way round. Base clock should be slower than the boost clock.

    • Nathan Kirsch

      fixed! Just flipped base/boost labels.

This card is ok-ish. When i check my computer store this was raised $40 additional than when i bought it. I was hoping to play my current games at 60fps very high/ultra/maximum graphic settings at 1920x1080p gaming. But it didnt. But then again maybe my cpu is to blame. Its a 4year old amd fx8320. Anyway i was able to play with additional fps and no longer has to settle with low/medium/minimum graphic settings just to have a smooth gameplay. So its an okay purchase But then maybe its just buyers remorse. I should have just bought a 1060 or rx480. Last time i bought something i was so satisfied was buying a saxx underwear. It costs twice the average men’s underwear but when i used it, it was perfect for me. I bought 14pcs and im set.

Pretty sure your cpu is to blame for those low fps. Also your motherboard may have an old PCI-e v2 (x8 speed) instead of the newer PCI-e v3 (x16 speed) slot meaning you only have half the bandwidth of todays motherboards. That didn’t have a large affect on last gen cards but may have more impact with these ones.
A lot of motherboards have more than one slot, if they do often one slot is faster than the other so make sure you installed it in the fastest one.
Again that cpu is a bit weak, give it a good overclock as that should help a bit.

My son’s pc has an 8320. It is likely the bottleneck in your case. I’ve overclocked his @ 4.0 standard but it will run 4.3 without a hiccup. He has a Cooler Master Seidon 240 cooling it.

    • WarHell

Your CPU is a bottleneck. I have the same card, but with a i7-6700K, I can play most games at 1440p 60 fps or more (In some games I need to reduce the AA, though). I’ve tested 4K in Overwatch and others and they’re very playable.

    • A play on Little Minds

I saw your post on ncix as well. You have already been told why the card is not performing to your expectation. Stop with your garbage posts already.

    • JackMeOffski

      You’re a moron

  • gamer

yes, its excellent gpu, dont have myself but my frend have it..

its fast and running games silent and low temp.

also tue 4k games gpu and whats important today, low watt eater.

  • turtlemaster

How can you call this a review without taking apart the cooler and let us see the heat sink and pcb man come on it’s standard stuff.

    • Nathan Kirsch

Thanks for the feedback… I did that for a decade and people never commented on it, but I’ll start doing it again if people ask for it!

  • Javier Saove

I have one of this card. Is amazing!.

  • Corvo Attano

i think that i will go with this card, Because its basically a monster, and almost all my pc parts are from gigabyte and i didn’t have any problem with them..

Thanks for the Review, and please review msi gtx 1070 gaming x gpu too!

    Much appericiated 😀
