Galaxy S8 Fix Coming for WiFi issues and Red Screen Tint

By

Samsung has announced that it has a fix coming that will address a couple of issues that users of the Galaxy S8 smartphone are having with the device. The software fix will address the red tint that some AMOLED screens have been plagued with and it aims to fix the WiFi issues that others are having. The fix will work on both the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8 Plus.

Samsung still maintains that neither of these issues are product defects and that the software update will simply allow the users to adjust the settings of the smartphones to match their preferences. The red tint fix will allow users access to additional controls to adjust display colors using color balance sliders that are already in the display settings.

In South Korea Samsung has been offering users with devices that have red tinted screens to exchange the device for a new one if they want, but that offer is only in South Korea right now. The WiFi connectivity issues seem to be limited to South Korea for now and the problem with connectivity occurs when the smartphone is connected to a 5GHz WiFi network with the carrier KT.

The problem with WiFi has been traced to some sort of conflict with the advanced power saving feature of the S8 devices and the access points that KT used made by Dongwon T&I reports Android Headlines. Those access points recognize the Galaxy S8 smartphones as abnormal terminals. The software update addresses that issue and should allow unfettered access to WiFi for KT subscribers.
