FSP Hydro PTM+ is a Liquid Cooled 1400W PSU

By

We all know that you don’t want water around electricity unless you want to get electrocuted. This hasn’t stopped FSP from building what it claims is the world’s first mass produced liquid cooled power supply for PC gamers. The PSU is called the Hydro PTM+ and it is 80 Plus Platinum certified.

The Hydro PTM+ is a 1200W PSU when air cooled, but when you hook the thing to your liquid cooling system it gets a 200W bump making it a 1400W PSU. The power supply has sensors inside to keep an eye on how things are going. When at a 50% load it features a silent mode to make for a stealthy web surfing session with no fans running.

The PSU is modular so you only need to connect the cables that you actually need preventing the rats nest of wires that we all hate with most PSUs. FPS also integrated RGB lighting so you can get a bit of bling inside your fancy windowed case. Pricing is unannounced right now, but with all the features crammed into this thing PC Gamer figures it will cost several hundred bucks.

As for fear of running a liquid through a 1400W power supply, FSP had this to say, “This revolutionary new liquid cooled PSU is the first in the industry. It has been demanded by many PC building enthusiasts who have long been wanting an innovative solution to cool off their PSU both effectively and aesthetically pleasing. There were many safety concerns of running water in an electrical equipment in the past but we made it possible today through our continuous research, development and partnered with Bitspowers advanced technology.”
