Foxconn X38A Motherboard Review
The Test System
The test system was running Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit with all available Microsoft updates current up too time of testing. NVIDIA Forceware 169.25 drivers were used on the EVGA GeForce 8800 GTS 640MB graphics card. The latest Intel chipset drivers were also downloaded an installed on each board used for testing.
The board employed for comparison purposes, is the ASUS MAXIMUS FORMULA Intel X38 board. This will pit the Foxconn directly against one of the highest performing X38 boards currently available. Since the Foxconn also supports DDR3 compatibility I will be using DDR3 modules as well. This will give us an across the board performance evaluation of the board. DDR3 1800MHz modules were used, but because of memory dividers available on the board, while using a Q6600 Core2Quad, the DDR3 had to be run at 1066MHz ratio. Still this will give us an indication if the DDR2 or DDR3 performance suffers any from the hybrid compatibly.
