Flip Grip Hits Kickstarter Letting You Play Vertical Switch Games

By

A new accessory for the Nintendo Switch has landed on Kickstarter called the Flip Grip. This accessory is designed to let gamers flip the Switch and play games with the console in vertical mode. Joy-Con controllers attach to rails on each side of the grip allowing mobile vertical play.

Why would you want to play the Switch in vertical mode? The folks behind Flip Grip says that the Switch has become an amazing machine for playing classic games on the go. Many of those games are better played with a console in vertical mode and many come with a switch to change them to vertical mode.

The vertical mode allows the game on the screen to take up more space giving you a better view of the action. If your preferred classic games include Punch-Out!!, Galaga, or Strikers 1945-II vertical mode will be the mode you want. Flip Grip is a single piece of injection-molded plastic that holds the switch when rotated 90-degrees.

The Switch slides into that holder and clicks in place. The Joy-Con controllers then slide onto the side rails as they would on the console. The way the Switch goes into the holder leaving the game card, SD card slot, and headphone jack exposed. The Flip Grip was seeking $42,500 and has raised over $46,000 as of writing. Flip Grip costs $12 and shipping is estimated for November 2018.
