Fallout 76 Players have to Download Day 1 Patch Larger than the Game

Few things are as frustrating for gamers as being all set to play your new video game on launch day and having to sit there and watch a massive update download and apply before you can get into the game. This is precisely what is happening to Fallout 76 players as Bethesda has announced a large launch day patch for the game. The patch is larger than the core game itself.

The original game was a hefty 45.04GB download on its own. This day one patch is a substantial 54.641B reports ScreenRant. This means that in all, Fallout 76 will need 96.9GB of storage space. The patch has a lot in it with changes to stash capacity, push-to-talk, and a temperamental hunger gauge.

Some balance changes are included in the patch for mid and high-level Super Mutants along with graphics tweaks across the board. The patch also fixes an issue where Power Armor might cause the game to be unresponsive.

While Fallout 76 is highly anticipated, the game had its share of complaints in the beta. A massive day one patch does show that Bethesda is working to address those criticisms. You can bet this giant patch won’t be the last for the game. You should get a larger storage drive now.
