Event: Pokemon GO Fest on July 22nd Will Take Place in Chicago

By

Last year on July 6th, the world saw a change in how people of all ages walked around. Suddenly people flocked to the streets and drivers ran out of their cars. Not because of any type of alien invasion. Rather, Pokemon GO was finally released and players would make their ways into back alleys and edges of cliffs trying to get enough Rattata candy to get a Raticate. It is almost a year and our friends at Pokemon have announced that there will be a Pokemon GO Fest on July 22nd in Chicago, Illinois.

According to the Pokemon website, players will be able to meet up in the windy city’s Grant Park to share exciting tales of their expeditions on their search for the final Magikarp candy. There will be group activities, events within Pokemon GO, and challenges that will allow the player to achieve ‘special rewards.’ Now, there isn’t too much information on the event besides the short summary, but we can expect the place to be packed with excitement as waves of yellow, blue, and red flood the park and argue over who really eats glue. Joking aside, it’s great to see that Pokemon GO is finally having a big event and we can assume (considering how much money was dumped into Pokemon GO via microtransactions and the traction the game had during its release) that those who are going will have a blast — and who knows, maybe we’ll see the re-release of festive Pikachu.
