The ECS GANK Drone Z87H3-A3X ATX motherboard may not have all the bells and whistles and fancy doohickeys that some of the boards out there have, what it does have is performance! Throughout most of our testing today, the GANK Drone Z87H3-A3X Intel Z87 motherboard was sitting pretty at the top of the charts. Ahead of boards like the GIGABYTE G1.Sniper 5 and the Drones big brother the GANK Machine Z87H3-A2X Extreme! The icing on the cake though, is the price. For only $119.99 you’re getting a board that took on some tough competition and won!
The L337 Gaming GANK Drone Z87H3-A3X may not have the extra features that some enthusiast are looking for, but that isn’t the target audience for this board. The Drone is an entry level motherboard that is designed for great performance at a great price, and from our testing today it looks like ECS hit the nail on the head. The Drone is capable of running up to two graphics cards in either NVIDIA SLI or AMD Crossfire which for most folks out there, is all they will really consider running. Once you get past two graphics cards, you don’t get the same level of scaling as going from one to two cards. Since ECS is targeting enthusiasts on a budget, they didn’t want to drive up the cost by adding a third or fourth PCIe x16 slot that will probably never get used by the target audience. If you’re looking for a board with the third PCIe x16 slot you can jump up to the L337 Gaming GANK Machine Z87H3-A2X Extreme which as the name suggests is more of an extreme board.
While the ECS L337 Gaming GANK Drone Z87H3-A3X is a budget board with a price tag of only $119.99 plus shipping. The warranty period isn’t entry level, the GANK Drone Z87H3-A3X is backed by a three year parts warranty and two year parts and labor warranty. If something were to happen it’s good to know that ECS is backing up their products with a solid warranty.
Legit Bottom Line: The ECS GANK Drone Z87H3-A3X may not have the extravagant features that some boards do, but when performance mattered the ECS GANK Drone Z87H3-A3X had plenty! The ECS GANK Drone Z87H3-A3X certainly brought it’s A-game today and was out performing boards that cost more than double the $119 price tag of the GANK Drone Z87H3-A3X!
