ECS’s San Jose Office & Warehouse
Making a quick early morning visit to the ECS offices in San Jose, CA., we were given a chance to look at the inner workings of their US location. While we were unable to go into the warehouse due to security reasons, we did get a tour of the building and were briefed on ECS’ operations here in the United States.
Looking out from the boardroom window (see above image), we got a chance to see the warehouse from the second floor during a busy morning. We were introduced to Senior Vice President Alex Tao and given the history of the company as well as an overview of the structure of their US and overseas offices.
ECS was founded in Taiwan in 1987 and has offices in the United States, Asia, Europe, as well as businesses in Brazil and Russia. The US office is approximately 120,000 square feet, of which 20,000 of it is dedicated to various offices and departments. The other square footage is the warehouse itself. ECS puts together the entry and performance systems for Resellers in North America at this location. Computers are assembled, tested and packaged in the US and stored in the warehouse for distribution. All the geen/blue colored boxes in the above pictures are complete computer systems that are behing shipped to Fry’s Electronics stores.
The next hot spot on our visit was the testing lab where various systems can be assembled to make sure different combinations of hardware and software products work together. ECS actually has a couple different test labs for different departments that work at this location. The picture above and below are from two different rooms.
After looking at the warehouse and walking through the offices with rows of cubes we went to our scheduled briefings to see the new ECS hardware.
