Dell abandons mail-in rebates

Dell has decided to cut back on mail-in rebates and will try to simplify its prices after customers moaned that its pricing structure was too complex.

Dell said the number of promotions for US consumers and small businesses would be cut by between 70-80 per cent and the reductions will be implemented over 12 to 18-months. The first to see the pricing changes will be Inspiron notebook computers and Dell televisions which will happen sometime in August. In May the outfit announced that it was cutting prices and is spending $100 million to improve customer service.
