Cuphead Sells a Million Copies in Two Weeks

Cuphead is a game that has been in development for many years and was first seen way back in 2014 during the Microsoft E3 press conference. One of the unique things about the game is that it has graphics that make it look like an old-school cartoon. Watching gameplay videos, it feels like a ’50s Mickey Mouse should be in some of the frames. Cuphead is from Studio MDHR and it is doing very well.

The game has sold over a million copies already and it has only been on the market about two weeks reports Critical Hit. As of now, the game is available for Xbox One and PC gamers. The game is unique and very beautiful and is all the more impressive since it was developed independently, though Microsoft did help fund the game.

The Microsoft funding is why Cuphead can’t be had on the PS4 right now. Studio MDHR has issued a thank you to all gamers for supporting the game, which has been an ongoing project for about seven years. The devs wrote, “We have worked tirelessly over the past few years to deliver a game that remained true to our vision and we are both humbled and excited that so many people from around the world are playing Cuphead it truly makes it all worth it.”

The game is widely known to be very difficult and that difficulty will drive some gamers away who may have purchased the game for its very attractive aesthetics. The developers wrote, “I know many players will be driven away by its difficulty, even if theyre drawn in by the old-timey aesthetic. If you love those old-school games that reward practice and patience through trial and error, Cuphead will likely delight.”
